Dr Kirsty Bayliss, Senior Lecturer/Academic Chair, Biosecurity and Food Security, Murdoch University

I am a plant pathologist and have worked on plant diseases affecting many crops including pastures, legumes, and oilseeds as well as native ecosystems and plantations.  I am also interested in plant pathogens that could pose a threat to crops grown under irrigated agriculture and horticulture. My current research interest is plant pathology in the context of plant biosecurity and food security. Specifically, I am working on development of a chemical-free technology, cold plasma, to reduce the incidence of moulds and decays in postharvest fruit, vegetables and grain.
